In vietnamese wedding traditions, the day of the bride is considered the starting of a new book in a couple’s living and is marked by numerous ceremonial rites. Some of them are based on historic beliefs and others are influenced by Confucian and Buddhist ideas

For case, before the service, the couple’s family did attend the couple’s families and beg for their permission to take the female aside. The couple’s representatives will provide gifts in special boxes adorned with red towel: tobacco leaves and areca finger grapes, cakes and jewels for the bride, as well as a fried piglet to reflect good fortune for the couple.

Usually, prior- arranged spouses in Vietnam were frequent as they allowed communities to lake resources and protect their assets. Nowadays, this custom is n’t as common, however, arranged marriages still play an important role in Vietnamese nation. On the day of the wedding, the newlyweds will wear their ao dai ( traditional dresses for women ) and suits for men. They will also wearing matching accessories and a rose king.

The most important function of the day is the Tea and Candle Ceremony, which is both a formal meeting between two families as well as a way to honor the spouses vietnamcupid‘ seniors and ancestors. The newlyweds will serve Green Tea or Chrysanthemum Tea to their guests, starting with the oldest members of the family. They will then receive money and jewelry from the guests as a way to show their appreciation.
